WHAT IS A WIKI?

A wiki is a collaborative website that is considered part of the second generation of Internet-based services that allows users to instantly create and share web pages.

What is a Wiki?
  • A Wiki is a series of webpages that anyone can edit
  • Wikis are extremely easy to edit
  • Created online so you can edit them anywhere
  • Wikis are collaborative by nature and typically have multiple authors
  • Keep a chronological history so you will never lose content
  • There is a discussion area to enhance collaboration
  • Wikis are very flexible and can be used for many different purposes
  • Three levels of security
    • public - anyone can view and edit
    • protected - anyone can view but not edit without permission
    • private - only members can view/edit
